Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Warmer, Less Wind – 4/15/18

Today: Mostly sunny this morning, increasing clouds over and near the mountains this afternoon. The wind will be lighter today, and all areas will end up warmer with high temperatures mainly in the 60s for the plains, 50s over the mountains. There may be enough instability for some weak showers to develop over the mountains during the afternoon, but the air underneath will be dry enough that we don’t expect more than a few sprinkles or flurries.

Tonight: Becoming mostly clear and not as chilly with low temperatures in the 30s for most areas.

Extended: The air will continue to warm on Monday, and as the wind begins to pick up again Monday afternoon conditions could become favorable for the spread of wildfires. Very windy and turning significantly colder again on Tuesday. The cold front on Tuesday looks to bring a quick shot of snow to the Continental Divide, but right now it does not appear likely that we’ll receive significant precipitation over eastern Colorado. Fire weather may again be a concern on Tuesday. The wind should be lighter on Wednesday, and Thursday looks dry. By Friday another storm should be bringing wind, colder air, and a chance for rain and snow to the region.
