Quiet today and wind to come – 04/10/18

Today: It should be a gorgeous day across southern Colorado! Highs will be reaching the 60s and 70s; this is well above-average! Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected with dry conditions. There could be a slight breeze, but it won’t be strong enough for any Red Flag Warnings. Even still, fire danger is elevated a bit!

Tonight: Lows drop to the 30s and 40s under partly cloudy skies. It will be dry overnight as well. It could be breezy into early tomorrow morning.

Extended: Fire danger will be high Wednesday. In fact, we’ll have a Wind Alert Level One in place as we could get gusts into the 30s! Thursday, fire danger will be extreme. Gusts could reach the 50 mph zone! The National Weather Service has also issued Red Flag Warnings for both Wednesday and Thursday for all of southern Colorado. It will be dangerous, so avoid outdoor burning altogether. Strong winds continue Friday, but humidity levels increase and temperatures drop, so fire danger won’t be quite as high. Thursday and Friday, we expect some good mountain snow. There’s even a small chance for some showers in the lower elevations. Winds should be settling down by Sunday.
