Fort Carson fire burns 1400 acres, has not crossed over to Midway Ranch

UPDATE 9:00 a.m.: Per Fort Carson, the fire at Range 155 started just after 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. It is now 80% contained.

The Hanover Fire Department had crews staged near the fire through El Paso and Pueblo counties if the fire were to jump into their territory.

Chief Carl Tatum said, “right now with heightened awareness after the Carson-Midway fire, we start sending out crews and putting them on observation points like this one from here down to Pueblo county so we can oversee what the fire and stuff is doing.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Another update from Fort Carson is expected in the morning.
