Pueblo bomb squad commander talks on Austin bombings investigation

Investigators in Texas continue to piece together clues surrounding bombings in the state.

The latest bombing happening Tuesday night outside a Goodwill in the Austin area, however, police said they don’t believe it’s connected to the other 5 bombings since March 2.

Earlier in the day Tuesday, another package exploded at a FedEx facility outside San Antonio.

“There was one other package that we believe was also loaded with an explosive device,” San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus said.

“It really does get you kinda scared a little bit,” Brian James, a FedEx worker said.

Sgt. Dustin Taylor, the Pueblo Police Department’s bomb squad commander said investigating the bombings are going to take time.

“They’re going to be looking at components that made up each of these devices. They’ll look at if that package they did locate does contain explosives in it, there’s information in it they can obtain to help trace back to where these are coming from,” Taylor said.

Police in Texas said preliminary information shows, except for the explosion at the Goodwill, all the bombs are all made by the same person or people.

Taylor said exploded evidence can still show which bombs were made by similar bombers.

“There’s always a signature left behind,” Taylor said.
