Fire danger today, snow tomorrow – 3/17/18

TONIGHT: The strongest winds will calm tonight under mostly clear skies. Lows cool to the 20s and 30s.

EXTENDED: We start the morning off with some sunshine but by the afternoon, winds pick up and clouds start to increase. Gusts will be into the 30s so a wind alert level 1 is in place. This is all because an area of low pressure will be pushing in. By the late afternoon and early evening, shower activity begins to develop over the higher terrain. Temperatures cool and this should begin to transition to snow through the evening. Gusts will be into the 40s, so look for blowing snow and poor visibility. This will mainly be a concern around the Palmer Divide and in the mountains. This also means travel could be dicey. Accumulations between 2-4″ are possible along the Palmer Divide and in Teller County. Light accumulations are possible in Colorado Springs and some of our mountain cities. If this low shifts at all, this could change snow totals. Be sure to stay with KRDO for the latest through the next 24 hours. Marty Venticinque will have the latest on GMC Weekend tomorrow starting at 6AM.
