ICE suspect involved in deadly Denver crash bonds out of jail

A suspected drunk driver who killed another driver in Denver has bonded out of jail

Police say Ivan Zamarripia-Castaneda slammed into a semi-truck on March 3rd killing the driver. They say he then ran away from the scene. Zamarripia-Castaneda was arrested the next day for vehicular manslaughter.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement say Zamarripia-Castaneda is an undocumented immigrant and filed an immigration detainer to take over custody and deport him back to Mexico. However, the Sheriff’s Office refused to do so unless a criminal warrant is signed by a federal judge.

Zamarripia -Castaneda bonded out on Saturday, one week after the deadly crash. His current location is not known.
