Police recognize Canon City teen who stepped in to stop bullying

Canon City High School freshman Camryn Pedzinski used social media to step in and stand up for a new student at the school.

According to the Canon City Daily Record, a Snapchat video was circulating CCHS showing students presenting a new student with a “gift” – razors, shaving cream and note that read, “Do us all a favor and shave your legs.”

That’s when Pedzinski created a Facebook post to stick up for the new student – who she didn’t even know personally.

On Wednesday, the Canon City Police Department presented Pedzinski with the “Agent of Change” Award for her efforts to step in and stop bullying.

Pedzinski said it was nice to accept the award, but that wasn’t the reason she stood up for the student.

“I really just did it to stand up for her and for people to understand that it’s not OK because it’s not,” she said. “That was my point — to make it known that I wasn’t going to put up with it and that other people shouldn’t either.”
