Firefighter slalom relay raises money for Children’s Hospital of Colorado

Several groups of firefighters showed they don’t need ski poles during the 12th Fire Hose Relay Race Friday at Arapahoe Basin.

Teams of five slalomed down a 15-gate course while holding on to a 50-foot fire hose. It wasn’t hard to see them, the teams were garbed in their traditional firefighter gear as they snaked their way down the lower High Noon trail.

The race was more than just a good time, it helps raise money for the Burn Camps Program at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado. Last year, the firefighters raised $20,000 for the hospital.

As for the winners? Western State Fire Protection #1 took home the victory with a top time of 36.47 seconds.
