Ice, snowpack blankets roads all over El Paso County

Snow packed roads, icy side streets, and slick on and off ramps all created hazardous road conditions for drivers in El Paso County Tuesday morning.

“I saw people doing donuts in the roads, you definitely have to take it really slow,” said Aaron Goodman.

Goodman said roads were extremely slick in Monument as he was making his way to the gas station.

“People were just cutting a cookie right in the middle of the street,” he said.

CDOT and county crews sent out a combined total of 56 plows to de-ice the roads throughout El Paso County.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 talked to many drivers who struggled to get home last night.

“The freeway was so slick, snow plows hadn’t been here yet,” said Ernesto Hernandez, a Monument resident.
