San Luis Valley Animal Rescue Society offering reward for possible stolen pet

An animal organization in Colorado fears one of their female dogs who was adopted out could soon become bait for dogfighting and is offering a reward for her return.

The San Luis Valley Animal Rescue Society is wanting to get the word out on a pup named Wendy that was previously adopted by a family in Fountain and was supposedly stolen from them.

According to the organization, the adoptive family was planning to move so they wanted to return the dog to the Animal Rescue Society. The family said they would return her on February 3. Three days later, when staff didn’t hear from the family, the San Luis Valley Animal Rescue Society reached out, asking about Wendy.

A woman in the family said they had given her away. When staff spoke with the man of the household, he said Wendy had been stolen and not to contact them anymore.

“We are heartbroken for this sweetheart pit mix, hoping she does not become a bait dog. We are offering a $400 reward for her safe return,” Jen with the San Luis Valley Animal Rescue Society told KRDO NewsChannel 13.

If you have any information on Wendy, you can call them at (719) 304-1559, email jeniferla@yahoo.com or the organization travels to the Petco on N. Nevada every Saturday. The staff makes the eight-hour travel in hopes of finding furrever homes for their dogs.
