Colorado Springs man arrested for robbing northside King Soopers

A Colorado Springs man was arrested late Friday after robbing a northwest-side King Soopers.

According to Colorado Springs police, officers were called to the store on Centennial Boulevard after a man brandished a weapon and demanded items. The report doesn’t say what, if anything, was taken.

The suspect, who was identified as Matthew Kemper, then left the store on foot and went west on Fillmore Street. An officer found Kemper and attempted to stop him, but Kemper wasn’t cooperative.

Police say they set up a containment around Kemper and took him into custody using less-than-lethal tools and a K-9 unit.

Kemper was charged with robbery. Bond information was not made available.
