Dog rescued after falling through thin ice in Grand Junction

Just a day after the Colorado Springs Fire Department issued a warning about thin ice , emergency crews in Grand Junction jumped into action to rescue a dog that fell through ice into frigid water Thursday.

But it’s a happy ending, as the dog was rescued safely. The Grand Junction Fire Department posted pictures of the rescue to Facebook and thanked local animal control workers for their assistance.

It’s important to keep clear of frozen lakes, especially as temperatures rise Thursday. The Grand Junction Fire Department says if your pet does fall through thin ice, call for help and don’t try to rescue the animal alone.
