Fliers travel on Christmas Day for cheaper prices

It’s beginning to look a lot Christmas… may be over. What started out as one of the busiest travel weekends of the year came to a crawl Monday morning at the Colorado Springs Airport.

Some fliers decided to celebrate the holiday a few days early in hopes of getting a cheaper flight to their next destination.

We asked how much of a deal these fliers were getting. One man said, “If I would have left yesterday it would have cost 6 to 800 dollars, compared to today where I got two tickets plus insurance and baggage fees for $350.

Others said they preferred flying on Christmas day because there were fewer people to deal with.

“I don’t want to go on the 26th when there are so many people,” says Elizabeth Szusz. After spending the weekend with her grandchildren, she said she only flies holidays to avoid lines.
