TV wins Red Kettle Rumble
KRDO Newschannel 13 and KRDO News Radio go head to head to see who can raise the most money for the Salvation Army.
Radio won the first round of the Red Kettle Rumble, but TV came out victorious overall, after an impressive gain in round two.
“We’ll now be able to give 300 families gifts for their kids and Christmas meals,” Erin Kauffman, El Paso County Coordinator for the Salvation Army, said.
But the money helps long after the bells stop ringing. Just $1.83 provides a hot meal for someone in need.
“We’re also able to pay for our shelter, our after-school programs, and food for 2,000 families all year,” Kauffman said.
People of all ages came to generously donate, including 10-year-old Collin Langston, who saved up his allowance to help out.
“I worked around the house, outside of the house, I helped decorate to get money to bring to the 8th Street Walmart and Red Kettle Rumble,” Langston said.
The 2017 Red Kettle Rumble raised a total of $3,216.78!
Radio raised $1,561.37. And TV collected $1,655.41.
