Wreaths placed in Colorado Springs cemetery to honor fallen veterans

Dozens gathered in Colorado Springs to honor veterans who have died.

Wreaths were laid by numerous volunteers Saturday morning to remember the fallen during the holiday season.

Flags marked each grave of a veteran in Memorial Garden Cemetery and were replaced by a wreath.

Before each wreath was laid down, the names of veterans were spoken aloud and saluted.

“They were just covering ground, it was just awesome to see,” Paul Billingsly said. “I don’t even know how to describe it. It was very, very, very cool.”

The ceremony at Memorial Gardens Cemetery was part of the “Wreaths Across America” which honors veterans buried in cemeteries across the nation by laying wreaths at their grave each December.
