U.S. military gets biggest pay raise since 2010 under new NDAA

Part of the National Defense Authorization Act signed by President Donald Trump Tuesday includes great news for U.S. servicemembers: the 2018 budget includes a 2.4 percent pay raise, the most since 3.4 percent increase in 2010.

The pay bump for our troops is also more than the 2.1 percent that was requested by the administration.

While the NDAA has been signed, it’s about $80 billion over budget, and lawmakers will need to find a way to reconcile the difference. Trump and other legislators want a $54 billion increase in defense spending, but no spending bill has been signed yet.

KRDO reported Tuesday that several Southern Colorado military bases will see an influx of millions of dollars for a few new construction projects.
