One arrest made after home invasion and crash involving stolen car in COS

One man was arrested and officers are looking for another after a home invasion in Colorado Springs.

A white Kia Optima was stolen during the home invasion Sunday night. The same vehicle was spotted by an officer traveling at a high rate of speed down I-25, police said. An officer tried to stop the vehicle, but it turned onto E. Cheyenne Road where it struck another vehicle head-on. The driver then ran off.

Police set up a containment area and started at K-9 search. One suspect was found hiding in a backyard in the 1300-block of Harrison Road. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Zachary Barr. He was arrested on charges of First-Degree Burglary, Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft and Menacing.

Officers are still working on identifying the second suspect from the home invasion. It’s believed he’s around 20 years old and named “Mike.”
