Spectranetics gets bought out by corporate giant Philips
Philips is buying the company Spectranetics for $2.16 billion in hopes of accelerating the growth of a specific product.
The 30-year-old Colorado Springs company is changing, drastically affecting each of the 600-plus employees working at Spectranetics.
“We’re really excited about this transaction because we look at it as an opportunity to unite two companies that share a common view of the importance of culture and values,” said Donna Ford-Serbu, senior management VP for Spectranetics.
The $2.16 billion deal was proposed by Dutch health care giant Philips.
Spectranics is focused on building minimally invasive cardiovascular therapies. These manufactured products work with laser technology to unclog arteries and allow blood flow to prevent amputations or to allow surgeons to safely implant pacemakers.
Although the company is growing, we are still waiting to hear if Colorado Springs will continue to be the home base for Spectranetics, as they are just beginning the integration process.
