EPSO: CJC close to reaching max capacity
The Criminal Justice Center is reaching record numbers of incarcerated inmates, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
It was announced on Tuesday that this is the second time just in 2016 that the facility has set a record. In August, it was totaled at 1,587.
There are only five beds left for women and 20 beds available for men.
The Sheriff’s Office stated, “Reduction measures will be assessed in the near future, as well as possible long term proposals to manage the continual and inevitable increase in the population.”
The total number of inmates currently at CJC is 1,592.
