Fort Carson to honor fallen soldier

A memorial service for a fallen soldier will be held at the Fort Carson.

Staff Sgt. Christopher Wilbur died Aug. 12 in Kandahar, Afghanistan from a non-combat-related injury. He was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team 4th Infantry Division, and was deployed to support operations Resolute Support and Freedom’s Sentinel.

His memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial Chapel on the post.

The service will include a traditional roll call, a rifle salute and a final tribute with the playing of “Taps,” according to officials at Fort Carson.
