Bridge on Slocum Rd. shut down again

The storm that slammed the Pikes Peak region Monday night has once again closed down a bridge along Slocum Rd. in El Paso County.

The bridge had just reopened days ago after a previous round of torrential rains and flooding.

The bridge in question is just north of Highway 94, between Ellicott and Falcon.

From the road, there does not appear to be much damage, but the true danger lies beneath.

As with the previous storm, rushing waters have destabilized the bridge supports.

They will need to be shored up before the bridge can be reopened.

No word yet on when the road may reopen.
