Pueblo citizens to see 2 new marijuana questions on Nov. ballot

Two marijuana questions will officially be on the ballot in Pueblo in November.

City Council heard from people on both sides of the marijuana issue on Monday night to decide if the two questions were being put on the ballot.

One of them will ask about taxing the sale of retail marijuana in the city. It would start at 4.3 percent, and council could raise or lower that at their discretion.

The second will ask voters if they want retail marijuana stores within city limits. An anti-marijuana group “Citizens for a Healthy Pueblo” has a similar question on the ballot, and they believe this could cause some confusion with the voters.

“I think when voters are confused, they vote no on everything. So, it could defeat both,” said Charlene Graham with Citizens for a Healthy Pueblo.

“I think it should be left to the local municipalities to decide upon themselves,” said Daniel Taylor.

Both of these retail Marijuana questions are now up to the people of Pueblo to decide in November.
