Denver woman sentenced after children injured in fire

A Denver woman whose two children were injured in a fire while she left them alone at home has been sentenced to 10 days in jail and four years’ probation.

Rocio Arroyo Reyes had pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

The Denver district attorney’s office announced her sentence on Monday.

Prosecutors say Arroyo Reyes left the children, ages 3 and 5, alone in their Denver home when the fire erupted on Sept. 29.

Firefighters rescued the children, who were treated at a hospital.
