COS parents preparing their kids for start of school year

School is soon to be back in session for the majority of Southern Colorado and students with their help of their parents are trying to get well prepared.

While some have been doing some last-minute shopping, one family was out enjoying their last few moments of summer before the start of school.

Carey Flores says preparing her kids for the school year is less of a checklist and more about the right mindset.

“Just really look at all the positives about school. Like how they’re getting ready for life, socialization and their friends,” said Flores.

Here is a list of some school district start dates –

– Monday, August 15 – Academy District 20, Pueblo County D70

– Thursday, August 18 – Colorado Springs District 11

– Wednesday, August 24 – Cheyenne Mountain District 12 (orientation for 7th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades)

– Thursday, August 25 – Cheyenne Mountain District 12 (K-6, orientation for 8th and 9th grades)

– Friday, August 26 – Cheyenne Mountain District 12 (7th – 12th grades)

– Monday, August 29 – Pueblo City D60 first day
