Brace yourself: Another I-25 cone zone is coming to Colorado Springs

Construction weary drivers in Colorado Springs will soon have a new cone zone to contend with.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says that overnight closures are planned for both directions of I-25 between the S. Nevada/Tejon exit and the Circle Drive exit beginning on August 10.

The work will be done on I-25 and on the MLK Bypass.

Workers will be doing asphalt work, replacing a bridge joint and repairing a bridge deck.

Intermittent lane closures and full closures of the US 24 (MLK) ramp will occur overnight, during the day and on weekends when necessary.

Construction work will run from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.

The work will be done by Schmidt Construction of Colorado Springs at a cost of $5.2 million. It is scheduled to be completed in early 2017.
