CSFD battles attic lightning fire

Fire crews in Colorado Springs battled a house fire that was started by lightning Thursday night.

They were called out to 6030 Gelding Court during the height of the storm, on a report that lighting had struck the roof of the house.

When crews arrived, they observed flames coming from under the roof gables.

Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.

There were no reports of injuries. Details on the extent of the damage were not immediately available.

The incident was just one of many for fire and rescue crews late Thursday night, after a slow moving severe storm pounded Colorado Springs and the Fountain Valley with hail, lightning, and street flooding.
