Heat makes headlines in southern Colorado

Colorado Springs hit 95-degrees on Wednesday while Pueblo hit a high temperature of 100-degrees! While it was hot, these temperatures weren’t quite high enough to land southern Colorado in the record books. Colorado Springs would have had to hit 95-degrees and Pueblo would have had to hit 105-degrees in order to tie the previous record for the day.

Some slightly cooler air is anticipated Thursday, but it will hardly be noticeable. Another 5-degree temperature drop is anticipated on Friday, which may make it feel at least a little more comfortable outside.

The system that will be responsible for bringing in this slight cool down will be traveling too far to the north of Colorado to bring any major weather pattern changes to the state. However, an uptick in storms is expected on Friday and Saturday.

With conditions drying out quickly thanks to recent heat and gusty winds, any rain would be welcome!

Currently, southern Colorado is not considered to be under any drought categorizations. Another assessment will be made on Thursday. Stick with your Stormtracker 13 Weather Team, and we will keep you updated on any changes to our states drought conditions.
