Road rage on the rise in Colorado

The Colorado State Patrol says road rage is on the rise. Troopers and officers say they get calls about road rage every day in southern Colorado.

KRDO spoke with Maile Gray, of Drive Smart Colorado. Gray says road rage can be triggered in an instant.

“Incidences have gotten more frequent and more violent,” said Gray.
Gray said road rage can be triggered by even the smallest acts, a bad look, honking your horn, or swerving.

“When you’re engaging in road rage, anything can happen,” Gray said.
Gray said a lot of the road rage incidents in southern Colorado happen between motorcyclists and drivers.

“Motorcyclists can feel vulnerable,” Gray said.

A motorcyclist allegedly fired shots at an SUV on Highway 24 on Sunday.
Police say 34-year-old James Barrett now faces second-degree attempted murder charges.

If you do see an angry driver call Colorado State Patrol at *277.
