Drowning victim’s body recovered from Pueblo Reservoir

Lake Pueblo State Park confirms that the remains of a man who was reported missing over the weekend have been found.

Shane Michael Crandell, 33, was found 37 feet below the surface of the lake. His body was found about 50 feet from where he was seen going under.

Crandall’s body was recovered by Colorado Springs Fire Department Dive Rescue and Lake Pueblo State Park rangers at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews searched the reservoir Sunday, Monday and Tuesday morning after Crandell was reported missing.

Parks and Wildlife said two men went swimming for a jet ski that floated away from shore. Only one man returned.

Swimming is NOT allowed in the reservoir, according to the Parks and Wildlife website. Cliff-diving is also strictly prohibited and extremely dangerous.
