Hail pounds homes, cars in northern Colorado Springs

A severe storm rolled through El Paso County on Monday night and brought heavy hail with it.

People in northern Colorado Springs reported seeing hail the size of a quarter. The hail piled up on the road, sidewalks and parked cars.

“It started to get dark, a little bit cloudy. There was white out on the road. It was a river going through. All I could think about was my car getting damaged,” said Judit Hillman.

Tthe hail cleared off the road within two hours but stuck on the sidewalks and grass because cooler temperatures allowed it to melt more slowly.
