The Rockies beat the Yankees

Nolan Arenado tied for the major league lead with his 20th homer and drove in three runs, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Yankees 5-3 Wednesday to sweep a two-game series and send New York to its fourth straight loss.

A day after Colorado defeated the Yankees 13-10, Chad Bettis (5-5) allowed three runs – two earned – and seven hits in six innings. He had been 0-3 with an 11.66 ERA since winning at St. Louis on May 17. The Rockies have won four straight.

Rather than activate Jose Reyes following his domestic violence suspension, the Rockies said before the game they had cut the former All-Star shortstop from their 40-man roster. They almost certainly will be responsible for the $38 million remaining on his contract.
