Missing Colo. rafter had nationwide warrant for his arrest
What started out as a search for a missing rafter in Caon City ended in the discovery of a wanted man on the run.
Styron Smith, 31, has a nationwide warrant out of Colorado Department of Corrections for absconding from Parole where he was originally in prison for assault and labeled violent, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
Fremont Co. officials spent hours searching for Smith on Saturday afternoon after he was allegedly thrown from his tube into the Arkansas River.

The search was suspended Saturday night due to safety concerns and they expected to continue Sunday at 6 a.m.
At 5 a.m., Smith’s family called police saying they had found his clothing he was wearing during the rafting incident at their home and that they believed he was out of the river and okay.
The Sheriff’s Office believes Smith is avoiding contact with them due to his outstanding warrant.
He is described as standing 5’8″ tall and weighing 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
If anyone has info on where Smith is, call dispatch at (719) 784-3411 and press 1 at recording.
