Fire department responds to fuel spill

Colorado Springs firefighters worked to contain an accidental fuel spill at a northeast side gas station this morning.

The spill happened at the Circle K Store in the 5900 block of Dublin Boulevard near Powers Boulevard.

Authorities say a worker was filling up the pumps from a tanker when the hose broke, spilling between 30 and 35 gallons of gasoline into the drainage system.

When firefighters arrived, they saw fuel collected in a detention basin for the drainage system. Cleanup was expected to take about an hour.

Firefighters say there is no danger to the public.
