you a live look at the scene. investigators say the plane will stay overnight. and an investigation team will arrive saturday. the thunderbirds say air force pilot major alex turner, is alright tonight. but their next show at kirtland air base in new mexico this weekend is canceled because of the crash in colorado springs.. that crash happened just after the air force academy graduation near fontain and powers south of the colorado springs airport. about 11- hundred miles away .. a colorado native died after a blue angels jet crashed in tennesee. marine captain jeff kuss is originally from durango. he was the pilot of a navy f-a 18 jet.. part of the navy’s elite “blue angels” flight.. the crash happened near nashville.. as they were practicing for an air show. we have live team man formation and so did jennifer davis… 19 – 2:33 i was loading up kids in the van and stopped to watch the plane go by. but within minutes… nats — thunderbird crash. things went south. 19 – 1:04 we saw an explosion and the top came off and then we saw the parachute. 10 – 1:40 i could see a flame shoot out from the top of the jet and i thought what in the world was that and i saw something come up and then i saw he ejected and i was like 10 -2:06 that plane is about to crash, where is it going to crash as far as i could tell, it was coming toward me and toward my house and then i saw it was turning russell expected boom… a blast… anything… 9 – 4:23 i waited for the fireball that never came instead… major alex turner’s jet came to rest in this empty field…a safe spot away from homes and people. 9 – 5:24 i saw the plane in the field and it looked like someone just parked it in the field. the air force reports turner is o-k. 20:00:09 major turner is in good health. law enforcement says turner’s jet had a mechanical issue. but the air force will now investigate exactly what malfunctioned. su: this is an expensive jet and it has military equipment on it. that’s why you see a lot of military personnell out here. theya re guarding the jet until he gets removed. russell says it’s too bad the plane went down… but things could have been worse. 9 – 7:16 kudos to the pilot and i am glad he is ok. i am sorry the plane isn’t but those things happen. it’s not the show-stopper she expected… but she’s glad it’s a good ending. the airforce will comb through this field to make sure airplane turned away from this housing area, so he wasn’t instrumental in a tragedy. praising major turner … as his family waits to see him again. sot: and major turner should be just fine. live in el paso county, gm, nc 13. colorado springs mayor john suthers is out of town tonight. but he released this statement… “i am thankful that the pilot ejected safely and was able to maneuver the aircraft
