Store clerk barricades himself in office, denies robber access

A Colorado Springs store clerk avoided being robbed early Monday morning by barricading himself in the store office.

At around 3:15 a.m., police got a call about an attempted armed robbery at a store located off the 300 block of S. Hancock Avenue.

The clerk told police that he saw a black male with most of his face covered by a bandana entering the store with a handgun, so he ran to the store office and locked himself in. The suspect tried to get in the room, but eventually gave up and left the store.

Officers are still searching for the suspect. If you have any helpful information, contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 385-2125.
