New details emerge in storage unit murder

Dark details are emerging in the murder case of Julie Tureson, whose body was discovered in an El Paso County storage unit April 22 nd , 2016.

New court documents reveal Tureson’s body was handcuffed to the inside passenger side door of her minivan, which was parked in the storage unit. A blue cloth covered her face, and a white substance was on her body.

Tureson’s ex-boyfriend, James Woo, was captured by federal agents at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, just moments before boarding a plane bound for Hong Kong, China. Woo is the lone suspect in Tureson’s murder.

According to court documents, Tureson and Woo had a stormy relationship. Papers tell of witnesses receiving emails from Tureson’s account – later assumed to be authored by Woo – outlining rules of how to interact with her.

“She’s the most important person in my life… I’m extremely protective of her and our relationship,” Woo wrote in an email. “I will go all out bat (expletive) crazy if anyone tries to threaten our relationship in any way… when someone makes a move on my wife, my mind gets so dark and I get so obsessed I start planning crazy things in detail that I fully intend to carry out…”

People who knew the couple also indicated Woo paid Tureson thousands of dollars a month to live with him. Witnesses also told detectives Woo installed video cameras in her house, and put a GPS tracker on her phone.

Two weeks after she cut off the relationship, Tureson called for help citing harassment. She told an El Paso County deputy Woo was knocking on her door. According to court documents, she believed Woo put unauthorized pictures of her on the internet, and received a text from him wanting “hate sex.”

Three days after the harassment call, Tureson was found dead in the storage unit.

Woo is being held at the King County, Washington jail on $5 million bail.

An El Paso County spokeswoman said she couldn’t give details on Woo’s extradition to Colorado, as there is a gag order.
