Gov. Hickenlooper visits southern Colorado

Gov. Hickenlooper visited southern Colorado today, praising the areas outdoors. It was part of the Pikes Peak Region Trails and Open Spaces Event, and they discussed the history, assets, and future of our outdoor spaces. Gov. Hickenlooper said Colorado Springs is a scenic hotspot, and that he wants to connect and improve open spaces in Colorado.

The Governor commented, “We want to map them and see where we have missing links. Where do we need to make connections and bridges, and where can we connect one natural landscape to another; and at the same time, we’re going to look at all the trails.”

Outside of the event, people held signs in protest of the land swap proposal between the City of Colorado Springs and the Broadmoor.

Gov. Hickenlooper said that while he doesn’t know the details, he trusts Mayor Suthers and other local leaders.
