Landfill searched in connection to El Paso County homicide investigation

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirms that a landfill was searched in connection to a homicide investigation.

The search happened Wednesday at a landfill near Ellicott, about 24 miles east of Colorado Springs.

The sheriff’s office says that investigators searched the landfill for evidence in the investigation into the murder of Julie Tureson, 33.

Tureson’s body was found in a storage unit in the 4400 block of E. Platte Avenue on April 22.

James Woo, 38, is accused of killing Tureson. He was arrested at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Friday evening. The sheriff’s office says he intended to fly to Hong Kong.

The sheriff’s office says Woo and Tureson previously dated.
