Remains found in Saguache County identified as missing Colorado Springs native

Investigators identified human remains Monday found in Saguache County as a Colorado Springs native who went missing in 2009.

The state Bureau of Investigation said the remains of Michael Rust. He was 56 years old when he went missing in March of 2009.

The remains were found in January between highways 17 and 285.

In March of 2009, KRDO Newschannel 13 reported Rust was last seen chasing two men he thought broke into his home.

Rust’s family says Michael was an avid mountain biker and motorcyclist.
