Three alarm fire at Colorado Springs apartment complex

A three alarm fire caused serious damage at the Canyon Ranch Apartment complex on the 3600 block of Parkmoor Village Drive on the east side of Colorado Springs.

The blaze started around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night. It was extinguished as of 12:01 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) says 24 units were affected by the blaze and many of them have extensive damage; 44 people are displaced and at least two people have minor injuries. At least one person was taken to the hospital.

No firefighters received injuries.

The Red Cross is responding to the structure fire. They’ve set up a shelter for the people affected at The Awakening Church at 3445 Oro Blanco Dr. in Colorado Springs.

CSFD was able to put the fire out within 45 minutes of arriving on scene. Although they called three alarms, the did not need to use the third crew, which remained on scene for backup.

Dozens of firefighters and trucks were on scene working to put the flames out. Colorado Springs police say the two floors of the complex have been evacuated.

At this time, there is no information about the cause of the fire.
