Officer injured in Thornton police chase and burglary

Authorities are investigating a burglary and chase that ended with a police officer getting injured.

According to KMGH, it started Sunday (03/27/16) morning at a liquor store near Steele Street and East 120th Avenue.

Off-duty security guards noticed a pickup truck backed-up to the store.

The guards followed it and noticed one of the people in the truck had a gun.

Police arrived and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver took off.

When officers tried to use a tactical maneuver to stop the truck, the police car was damaged.

The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two people, Nathan Wallace and Richard Arnold, were arrested. Wallace, who is the suspected driver, faces assault and a weapons charge. Arnold, the suspected passenger, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Thornton police say the case is an active and on-going investigation.
