Suspect dies in officer-involved shooting

A suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting early Thursday morning, police said.

Our news partners in Denver say the shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. in Weld County. It happened near highway 85 and 37 th street.

Evans police say they were responding to a trespassing call. Upon arrival officers saw two men running away.

Officers attempted to catch the men when shots were fired at them. Police returned fire, fatally hitting one of the suspects. The other suspect was arrested. No police officers were injured.

The intersection is currently closed as Colorado State Patrol, Greeley, and Evans police continue to investigate.

There is no estimation of when it will reopen.
