Smoke from Fort Carson training range fire drifts into Colorado Springs

Fort Carson said a fire was burning on one of its training ranges south of Colorado Springs Thursday.

A southerly breeze was causing the smoke to drift into the city, prompting concerns for some residents.

Grass fires are a common side effect of live fire training at Fort Carson. There have been several of them this month.

The Mountain Post says the fire is not threatening any structures. It is being monitored.
