tonight, that march in downtown colorado springs… celebrating the life of doctor martin luther king junior. streets are now back open.. after a march to colorado college. as we’ve reported … the college has dealt with some recent racial tension. krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller is live there tonight. greg – a lot of people showed up for the march tonight. james, the people here earlier tonight marched through this area so his message of equality would still be seen and heard. nats – freedom – a word alpha fisher not only sings but something she believes in. 0:44 so many people were of the same mind, so many people saw this as a time to reach out to everyone. what actual unity was. a unity shared by all of these people. 2:29 look at all of these people that decided to come together and support the community. 1:36 if a lot of us were patient and just talk to each other, i think people would get closer to understanding. these streets have been quiet on martin luther king day for several years… too long if you ask these marchers. 0:51 it’s important to be reflective on important things. honoring the legacy of doctor martin luther king adds value. lining up at acacia park, they marched down tejon to colorado college, police escorting them on the way. 3:21 the fact that people are willing to really share what unity looks like. while they march for equality, they know they have a long road ahead. even here at colorado college offensive remarks were made on a social networking app just two months ago. those remarks drew the ire of students and administrators who promised to deal with it. but these people still have hope. 3:33 unity is something we all have to go after, it’s not something we can just talk about. that doctor king’s dream will live on. colorado college organized this along with the usaa – they plan on an even bigger march next year. live in colorado springs, gm, nc 13.
