Colorado Springs responded to a shooting at The Citadel mall Saturday just before 7 p.m.

Police said one man and one woman were shot outside the malls entrance in front of Hooters restaurant. Both have non-life threatening injuries.

“We were standing in there and everybody started running and were like what’s going on? Then they were like someone’s shooting and we heard gun shots so we started running with them,” Jose Hernandez, witness.

A preliminary investigation has revealed there was a disturbance between two groups of individuals. A suspected drive-by shooting then occurred outside of the mall. The possible suspect vehicle is a white newer model 4 door sedan with darkly tinted windows.

While officers were on scene investigating the original call for service a call was received about a potential third victim. Officers responded to a home and contacted a male who had received a graze injury. The male did not require medical treatment.

The mall elected to go on a shelter in place status. Tactical enforcement units from the Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office cleared the mall and assisted in escorting people out of businesses.

This is an active investigation. If anyone has information on potential suspects or is a witness to the incident you can contact the department at (719) 444-7000 or if you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at (719) 634-STOP (7867).
