Man faces attempted murder charges after early morning standoff

One man is in custody after a standoff in Colorado Springs on Friday night.

Deputies say they received a call from Memorial Hospital around 7 p.m. A nurse told them they were treating an assault victim.

The victim told deputies that his roommate had hit him in the head several times while he was asleep.

When deputies responded to the suspects home in the 2800 block of South Circle Dr., they were unable to contact him.

SWAT and the Crime Negotiations Unit were called to the scene, and a containment was set up.

SWAT officers breached the door, and deployed a robot to locate and monitor the suspect, who was later taken into custody without incident.

Investigators identified the suspect as Duane Moore, 51, who is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and felony menacing.
