Celebrating the winter solstice

You’ve probably noticed it’s been getting dark earlier and earlier.

And Monday is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.

In Colorado Springs and Pueblo that means less than 9.5 hours of daylight.

Some places, like the North Pole in Cascade, love the season – it’s their busiest time.

Despite the cool weather, people are riding the rides and, of course, enjoying some tasty treats.

Many at the attraction say winter is their favorite season.

“Winter, the beautiful scenery, the snow, the mountains, the trees. It’s gorgeous,” said J.L. Wilson of Pueblo.

The good news for sun lovers is that the days will begin to get longer.

By June the sun will be up for more than 15 hours.
