Springs council approves south Nevada tax break
The Colorado Springs City Council took up the issue of South Nevada Avenue redevelopment.
Two weeks ago, the council approved the project that would change the neighborhood between Brookside and Cheyenne Boulevard.
Tuesday, the council members were considering whether to allow developers to withhold paying city sales taxes to help fund the improvements.
“(What we want is) for the city to forgo those (taxes) and allow the developers to use those revenues to retire infrastructure and other improvements that are being done to benefit that entire community,” said Ray O’Sullivan of Ivywild Development.
The City Council approved the measure.
