COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.

Officer Garrett Swasey was laid to rest on Friday.

“There’s a lot of people that fight for our country and cops are one of them and we lost a good cop,” said David Smith.

Colorado Springs Police started the day escorting UCCS officers and the Swasey family to the service.

“There are a lot of people coping people on campus, I thank god for the officers who are here on this day and protect us,” said Alex Craig, student at UCCS.

After the service, the procession started at New Life Church and traveled south down I-25 to Garden of the Gods Road.

“We were driving by and saw the people lined up and wanted to give support as well,” said Janiece Rendon.

It traveled east on Garden of the Gods to Austin Bluffs Parkway, past the UCCS campus and then south on Union Blvd.

Police agencies from across the state were in attendance.

“We come from a strong family of law enforcement so we strongly believe and support everything they stand for,” said Joe Rendon.

It ended at Evergreen Cemetery.

Swasey is one of three people killed in a shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood on Black Friday.
