QB Isaiah Sanders leads high-powered offense for Palmer Ridge

Palmer Ridge High School is rolling through the 4A football playoffs, due in part to their explosive offense.

Tuesday’s blizzard moved the team’s practice inside their gym, but just like the postal service: not rain, not sleet, not hail, not snow will slow down the Bears’ most explosive weapon.

You’ve seen the film – who does Palmer Ridge quarterback Isaiah Sanders look like?

“One of the players that comes to mind is Cam Newton – especially after this last game,” said Sanders. “There were even players from the other team that were comparing me to him,”

It’s hard to argue with that comparison – Sanders scored five touchdowns in the first half against Dakota Ridge in the first round of the class 4A playoffs.

Palmer Ridge Head Coach Tom Pulford would rather focus on Sanders’ development as a person.

“If we can get Isaiah to the point where he’s reached his full potential as a football player and a young man then that will be a success,” said Pulford.

Sanders is an impact player on the field, but he knows his impact is bigger than football.

“Sometimes football players get a bad rap, or teenagers in general [get a bad rap] for the decisions they make,” said Sanders. “I’m hopefully trying to change the culture around that.”

Don’t let that mild-mannered humility fool you – he’s cold-blooded when it comes to cutting up a secondary, and his future looks bright.

“[I’m] trying to make an impact not only on the field wherever I go, but hopefully [I will be] able to be a light to the people around me,” said Sanders.

Palmer Ridge hosts Windsor in the second round of the class 4A football playoffs at Don Breese Stadium on November 21st.
